| I´m in HONDURAS!!!! In a smaller city called La Ceiba. God provided me with a very smooth trip, and it was so great to see Karyn again!!! It is HOT here!!! humid and tropical. Lots of palms and coconuts and rivers and mountains and skinny cows, people sitting on their front porches staring at the road, relaxing... WE´ve already had quite a few cat calls from random men and yes, this is definitely a latin country.
IT is beautiful though, I haven´t seen a whole lot but what i ahve seen i really like. Karyn and i took like a 3hour bus ride on this nice air conditioned coach bus from San Pedro to here, La Ceiba, and that was a fun experience in itself. THey watched the Scorpion king in spanish on the bus, and the toilet was atrocious1! DEf. an experience! There was pee EVERYWHERE! but i had to go so bad, so i was hovering over the seat, keeping my balance real good, when all of a sudden JERK! the bus hopped and my thighs touch peee!! lots of pee from other people! No toilet paper!!! I had a couple of napkins saved, and i wiped and there was no water to wash my hands. I sanitized them 3 tiems with rubbing alcohol. apart from that, the ride was great. they listened to Bob Marley! after the movie was over, a whole album of his tunes. There was this guy behind us who sang really loud.
So I´m staying in a hotel for the next couple of nights, and then we´re taking a 7 hour bus ride (but there will be no toilet, and no airconditioning, pretty much just a regular school bus) to Ciriboya, the village where Karyn lives and calls home here. I´m so excited to see this place, i´ve already heard gerat stories of the people and the BEACH!!!
Thank you for all of you praying for my safety. Things have been great so far.
Tonight we will go to eat Popusas (some cheese tortilla pickled onion variety of honduran food) which i´m pumped about. I feel so blessed. God is showing me a lot of beautiful things about his creation. I feel him very cose. ON the way here i had a window seat on the plane, and the cloud formations were breathtaking!!
It was really great to see Karyn´s face light up when i gave her the cards and gifts her friends and family sent.
To prove that I´m in a spanish speaking country: ÑÑÑÑÑ that´s the n key. hahaha.
I can´t explain how i feel right now... its a mixture of happy and excited and awe and wonder.
I probably won´t be able to write again until right before i return to Canada, since we´ll be in Ciriboya with no running water or electricity for most of my stay here.
Anyways, until later!!!
| Ok, so I haven't posted in almost a month.
I'll just give a quick update.
I am taking an Old Testament Foundations class on Tuesday evenings,
with an awesome professor. I have already
learned so much! I look forward to it every week! I also went to a
retreat for the students and profs, and it was really great. I met my
future profs (for the other classes i have to take soon) and got to
know some of the students better. We had fun and we encountered the
Holy Spirit in beautiful ways. more on this later...
I was able to see Watoto the Uganda Children's Choir last night. They
were incredible. So much ENERGY!! and beautiful beautiful smiles. It
was a blessing to see them perform praise songs and dance with so much
joy. I was reminded once again of the dark crisis Africa and many parts
of the world are going through.
I would say that the most exciting thing in my life right now, is that
i'm leaving for Honduras in less than 3 days, to go visit Karyn! I am
soooooooo pumped!! God, the Faithful One, has provided this. I can't wait to see Karyn!! I really miss her! and I will
finally be able to walk the land of Honduras, God-willing.
If you read this, pray that i'll be open and able to see/understand
what He is going to show me in those 8 days, and that i'll serve where
i am called to serve. Also pray that I'll meet up with Karyn as we
planned, for safety issues etc.
Also, last time i went to Latin America, i had some serious gastrointestinal issues, if you get what i mean...I am taking my traveller's
meds.
I also have a really annoying/bad toothache right now that wakes me up
in the middle of the night. and my knee has been acting up lately
too!!! weird that this is happening right now.
I got some antibiotics for the tooth, which i'll start taking tomorrow.
Anyways, i'm also a little stressed. This week has been a blur. I still
have a whole lot of stuff to do before i leave and i'm exhausted, as
you can see it is after 1am and I am unable to sleep, with this
throbbing in my mouth.
i'm going lie down now.
later.

| ...O that a hallowed season of divine communion may be vouchsafed to me
this evening! The Lord knows that I need it very greatly. My graces
languish, my corruptions rage, my faith is weak, my devotion is cold;
all these are reasons why His healing hand should be laid upon me. His
hand can cool the heat of my burning brow, and stay the tumult of my
palpitating heart. That glorious right hand which moulded the world can
new-create my mind; the unwearied hand which bears the earth's huge
pillars up can sustain my spirit; the loving hand which incloses all
the saints can cherish me; and the mighty hand which breaketh in pieces
the enemy can subdue my sins. Why should I not feel that hand touching
me this evening? Come, my soul, address thy God with the potent plea,
that Jesus's hands were pierced for thy redemption, and thou shalt
surely feel that same hand upon thee which once touched Daniel and set
him upon his knees that he might see visions of God... CS SPURGEON
| It is a new year. Happy 2007! How fast the time goes!
I start Seminary soon. I signed up for a course at CTS (Canadian Theological Seminary). Old Testament Foundations. I'm really pumped about this! I am also in the process of planning a little trip to Central America but more on that as it develops further.
This evening, I was watching a Gaithers DvD with my parents. It's called Build A Bridge. It features many different artists and is hosted by the Gaither's and TD Jakes. He was talking about how death is a common denominator among all races, cultures and ages; that we must remember the songs of old sung by those who have suffered and have known the reality of death. These people were Kingdom-minded. I know in my life, the Lord has brought me to a place where death is becoming more real. When we realize how short the time is here on earth, our perspective changes. I am learning what it means to not store treasures here on earth, where moth and rust destroys. "But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness.."Matthew 6:33. We must remember that heaven is our home and Christ is the way, the truth and the life.
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace"
God bless all who read this in the new year!
